- WHAT IS SPIRITUAL GROWTH & SPIRITUAL MATURITY?In general, growth is important in every area of our life. It is a continuous process till our lives ends on the earth. There are various growths that take place in human life – Physical growth, Mental growth, Social growth, Career growth, and finally Spiritual growth.2
- WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT SPIRITUAL GROWTHWe see a lot written in books, some contemporary and some old, concerning spiritual growth and development. The terms can get confusing. What terms does the Bible use for spiritual growth?2
- ROLE OF THE SCRIPTURES IN INITIATING SPIRITUAL GROWTHFor many, the Bible is a fact book or textbook; it's merely a resource to help people understand the spiritual events of the past and incorporate those facts into their life. If the Bible is something more than just a fact book, then those who engage, study, and meditate on the Bible will find themselves growing spiritually. As the research in Transformational Discipleship stated, "When believers are willing to place their lives on a collision course with God's Word, then transformation can occur." The Bible is essential to spiritual transformation and growth.4
- HOW TO GROW SPIRITUALLYSpiritual growth is similar to physical growth. Time, food, and activity are the requirements. God's Word provides our spiritual food.3
- MEASURING SPIRITUAL GROWTHWe measure our growth in many areas. We have metrics to measure our financial growth, our fitness goals, our grades at school and lots of other things. But how do we measure our spiritual growth? How can we be assured that the person we are today is not the same person we were yesterday? Certainly we could look at whether we know God’s word more or pray more today than we did a year ago.3
